OUR ACTIVTIES
Safe Drinking Water Facilities: Subarna Bhumi Foundation has installed submersible pumps on school premises for the vulnerable low-income communities in Khulna. Khulna has 32 slums with approximately 15,000 people in each slum. A nearby river provides no sustenance as it is highly salinized and cannot be used for drinking or domestic purposes. The submersible pump ensures school students and at least 150 families have access to safe drinking water facilities.
Irrigation and Water Preservation: Subarna Bhumi Foundation has provided areas within the Bagerhat district with water reservoir tanks to 90 households and 45 community groups. Mongla is an area within the Bagerhat disctrict which relies on agricultural employment, however, the area is climactically vulnerable and water is scarce during summer. By providing 1500L water reservoirs to the rural community of Mongla, it secures the peoples livelihood and integrates economic and social empowerment
Assistance during COVID-19: From January 2020, Bangladesh has been in lockdown and as a result, thousands of low-income people have been pushed into a dire state of poverty. With limited resources available, Subarna Bhumi Foundation has provided food for 20 days to 150 people who live in remote places like Khulna and Patuakhali. SBF received many requests through the Foundations’ social media about the many families who have lost their income due to the pandemic and in response, SBF provides funds and food to 100 people. During the beginning of the first wave, SBF distributed 4,000 masks and 3,000 soaps to large slums in Dhaka and Khulna. These activities were undertaken with the intention to, alleviate some of the suffering, promote proper hygiene and sanitation practices and to provide some security to families who had been impacted greatly. Subarna Bhumi Foundations’ endeavors provided assistance to the national efforts to reduce coronavirus cases and mortality rates.
